VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Julie Fassl of the Virginia Wesleyan University field hockey team has been named the Marlin of the Week for the week ending on October 14, 2018.
Fassl had six points ove the course of ther week, helping the squad pick up to crucial Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victories.
In the week's first contest, Fassl picked up an assist on the Marlins first goal. The sophomore ripped a shot from a step inside the circle that was deflected in by teammate Kenley Light. The team would eventually pick up a 2-1 win over Ranolph-Macon in overtime. Fassl then put on a solid display in the win over Ferrum, nabbing her other five points. She had the game's first goal, ripping a shot on a set penalty corner play. Minutes later she would double her goal total, finishing a pass near the goal mouth. Early in the second she would also pick up an assist.
Fassl now has four goals and four assists on the season, ranking her third on the team with 15 points.
Field hockey returns to action at 5 p.m. on Wednesday as the squad heads to Bridgewater for an ODAC clash with the Eagles.
