Perry comes to Virginia Wesleyan from Longwood University where he was the head coach of the men’s tennis program. He coached the Lancers to a six-win improvement in just his first year with the team. He also worked with the Atlantic Coast Athletic Club where he served as Director of Junior Tennis. Perry was responsible for all aspects of the High Performance Junior Program while teaching private lessons, scheduling and running tournaments.

Prior to that, Perry was the Head Men’s and Women’s Coach at Bridgewater College, leading the two programs to a combined record of 54-24 in his two and a half years at the school.

Perry has a wealth of head coaching experience, leading the men’s and women’s programs at Division I Colgate University as well as Division III power, University of Chicago. While at the latter, Perry developed the two-time Division III women’s doubles national champion, a national finalist in singles and eight All-Americans. The team made three consecutive trips to the national semifinals.

His recruiting is unparalleled as Perry had the No. 1 ranked women’s tennis recruiting class in 2008 and the No. 3 class on the men’s side in 2010 according to His first men’s recruiting class at the University of Chicago turned a 7-16 team into an 18-9 program making its first NCAA tournament appearance. His recruiting classes have produced the UAA women’s tennis Rookie of the Year four-straight years (2006-09) while Chicago claimed its first, and only, male Rookie of the Year in 2008.

Perry started his coaching career as the Assistant Coach of the men’s team at The College of William & Mary. He is certified through the Professional Tennis Registry, holding a professional rating since 1994, and USTA High Performance Program. Adding in his numerous camp experiences, Perry brings a wealth of knowledge and a championship pedigree to the Virginia Wesleyan tennis programs.
