Restivo Travels to Australia to Coach American Field Hockey Team
MELBOURNE, Australia – Virginia Wesleyan University field hockey coach Christina Restivo left in early June to coach a field hockey team of American players in the Victorian Country Field Hockey Tournament in Melbourne Australia.
The team is made up of players from colleges and universities across the nation.
"I am extremely honored to have been asked to be the head coach of this group of college-aged women," Restivo said. "I'm excited to meet my team and prepare us for each competition as I would my own team here at Virginia Wesleyan."
Restivo has since met her squad and begun competition in the tournament. Her squad is 1-1 currently and will play three games on Monday for a shot in Tuesday's final.
"I am very excited about this adventure we are about to embark on in Australia as this tournament will give us great competition, and will expose us to the different tactical and cultural differences between our countries," Restivo added. "This is going to be quite an experience that I will never forget and I am so humbled to have been given this opportunity."
