New start time for VWC's lacrosse game today at Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Forecast of heavy rain has prompted officials at Lynchburg College to move the start time of tonight's Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) quarterfinal game between Virginia Wesleyan College's Marlins and the host Lynchburg Hornets from 7 p.m. to 5 p.m.

VWC (9-6) enters the 5 p.m. game as the No. 6 seed, while Lynchburg (13-4), ranked No. 10 nationally, is the No. 3 seed. The winner of this evening's game will advance to semifinal action on Saturday, May 3, against No. 2 seed and No. 20 ranked Washington and Lee University (11-5),  at 5:30 p.m.

The Lynchburg vs. VWC match-up will be the second between the teams in four days. The Hornets got off to a fast start against the Marlins on Apr. 26 en route to posting an 18-8 victory. VWC sophomore Josh Currier (Peterborough, Ontario/Holy Name-Hill Academy) recorded four goals and one assist in that game, to increase his season points total to 96, tying the ODAC single season record set by Guilford College's Dave Brown in 1992.
