WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Virginia Wesleyan College started off impressively in Gallaudet University's Worthington Classic on Friday, posting a pair of 3-0 victories.
The Marlins topped New York's Keuka College 25-16, 27-25 and 25-19, and then bounced New Jersey's Rowan University 25-16, 25-16, 25-14. While VWC improved to 8-10 with the wins, Keuka's Storm dropped to 9-5 and Rowan fell to 9-9.
Virginia Wesleyan will continue competition on Saturday, Oct. 8, facing Catholic University's Cardinals (16-2), who also downed Keuka and Rowan on Friday. VWC plays at noon and continues on in pool play.
