VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University field hockey team fell, 3-1, to Wesley College Saturday afternoon at Birdsong Field. With the loss the Marlins go to 1-1 while the Wolverines improve to 1-0.
It was Virginia Wesleyan that struck first as Hunter Majewski was able to slide one into the back of the net. The senior was in the right place as a deflected ball put her in perfect place to finish the job midway through the second quarter. Wesley struck back just 30 seconds later and the teams went into halftime tied 1-1. The Marlins pressed in the final two quarters but the Wolverines snuck two more in, handing the team its first loss of 2019.
Field hockey returns to action again at 1 p.m. on Saturday as the squad takes on York College.
