men's Lacrosse Unable to Contain General Offense

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team fell, 24-9, to Washington and Lee on the road Saturday afternoon, With the result, the Marlin squad finishes its season with the a record of 4-12 overall and 1-8 in conference play.

Virginia Wesleyan opened up the tilt strong as Matt Baldwin got the Marlins on the board first with a goal 1:46 in.The two teams would exchange a goal over the next three minutes and then the Generals offense got things going, cashing in four straight. VWU did not back down though, using a man up situation right before the first period's end to narrow the score to 5-3. The Marlins went scoreless in the second, allowing W&L three goals in the process.

Trailing by five going into the second half, the Marlins were just unable to contain the nationally-ranked offense of the Generals. The squad doubled its score in the third but W&L matched it with seven of their own. The fourth period told a similar story.

Baldwin led all Marlin scorers with three goals, followed closely by Greg Gaetano and Nick Zepko who each had a pair. Also pitching in on the offensive end was Tyler Conn (1G,1A) and Nathan Sheirburn (1G).

Manning the goal for VWU was Chris McTague, who picked up 15 saves over 60 minutes of action.
