GREENSBORO, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's soccer team fell, 1-0, to Guilford Wednesday evening in a road contest. With the result, the Marlins move to 6-9 on the season and .500 in conference play (3-3).
It was a close contest throughout as the stats were nearly mirrored. The Quakers were able to find the difference maker in the first half though, as they converted on a set piece opportunity in the 39th minute. Virginia Wesleyan battled to knot the game back up, earning a late free kick of their own, but the Guilford defense stood tall.
Despite the loss, Griffin Potter picked up four saves on the evening.
Men's soccer returns to action again at 6 p.m. on Saturday as the team welcomes Lynchburg to town for Senior Day.
