Men's Tennis Blanks Roanoke on Senior Day

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University Men's Tennis team captured another ODAC win with a 9-0 shutout of the Roanoke Maroons. Team Captain Paul Gladstone was honored as part of Virginia Wesleyan's Senior Day festivities.

In doubles action, Timothy Tep and Anthony Wilson were first to come off after earning an 8-2 win at number 2 doubles. Michael Portera and Paul Gladstone won 8-1 soon after at number 3 doubles. Nick Gunther and Mitchell Perry kept the doubles hotstreak alive with an 8-5 win at number 1 doubles. 

With a 3-0 lead going into singles play, the Marlins continued their dominance as Andreas Combos was first to finish his match with a 6-1, 6-1 win at number 4 singles. Paul Gladstone earned himself a 6-0, 6-2 win at number 1 singles just after Combos had finished. Nick Gunther at number 3 singles and Timothy Tep at number 2 singles both earned hard fought wins with scores of 6-4, 6-4 and 6-2, 7-6(0) respectively. Anthony Wilson and Mitchell Perry both won easily in straight sets at numbers 5 and 6 respectively.

Virginia Wesleyan Men's Tennis (14-8, 9-1 ODAC) will be back in action this coming Tuesday to take on their conference's best team in the Washington and Lee Generals. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
