Newport News, VA - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team battled it out with Dickinson College on the campus of Christopher Newport University resulting in a 1-1 draw.
The game was played defensively for a majority of the time with the teams combining for only 14 shots total. The Red Devils scored at the 40 minute mark to take the lead going into halftime. The Marlins were able to answer in the 62 minute when Abby Peterson scored off of a long ball that bounced in the box and over the goalkeeper; she was assisted by Emily Wright on the play.
Both teams were held scoreless through two overtime periods resulting in a 1-1 tie. With the tie Virginia Wesleyan goes to 2-1-1 while Dickinson moves to 2-0-1 on the young season.
Women's soccer returns to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday as the squad takes on Salisbury University at the Trinder Center on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan University.
