VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team were edged 1-0 by Randolph-Macon Wednesday evening under the lights of the Trinder Center. With the results, the Marlins move to 6-3-2 on the season and 2-2-0 in conference play. Randolph-Macon remains unbeaten at 11-0-0 (3-0-0 ODAC).
This match was tight all the way through as the sides went shot-for-shot through the duration of the 90 minutes. The Yellow Jackets were able to notch the difference maker on a crossing ball that was finished at the far post. Virginia Wesleyan had a great opportunity a few minutes later as Mia Meinhardt fed a thru ball to Teah Lorenzi but her shot was warded off by a diving Macon keeper, denying the chance at the tie.
Amruta Karkare got the call in goal, stopping five of the six Yellow Jacket shots she faced.
Women's soccer returns to the pitch again at 1 p.m. on Saturday as the team hosts Emory & Henry back at the Trinder Center.
